If I want to know what God’s will is then I will be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Yet the darkness in this passage says not to be conformed to this world.
So the bottom line question for me is What in my life is conforming and what is transforming? Do I even evaluate activities, relationships, thoughts, emotions on this basis. I would like to think I am being transformed but are there areas of my life walled off to God. He is free to roam in all areas except?
I fear that I just live life and don’t recognize the conforming transforming power at work. Is it too much to say that at any moment I am being either conformed or transformed. What would this awareness do to my days activities? How would my heart soften toward people during the day if I saw each relationship as a conforming or transforming activity?
Somehow Father, I see clearly the need for solitude. I tend to live life like people hit the Old Country Buffet, just stuffing everything in that I can. Yet the need to reflect quietly on life’s effect on my heart becomes a necessity of transformation. Just like Friday morning when I felt the enormous fatigue. That hour of solitude was a life saver.
I think I need another gauge on my dash, not just emotional physical spiritual but one that measuring conforming transforming process. Which is at work most in me? Father it is clear in these moments that I want to be transformed yet this is not the battle. I have a premarital counseling appointment at noon, drive to Kansas to pick up a vehicle, message to finish, letters to write, brakes to fix, air conditioners to take out, vacation to prepare for–it is in the midst of that stuff that I need to become aware of the conforming transforming process.
