In Jonah 3 we see the people of Nineveh respond to the message “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned” that Jonah delivered. I am simply astounded and thankful that you would relent God after such a “quick turnaround” by the Ninevites. Somehow I want them to “pay” for your compassion, mercy and grace! It isn’t deserved if it doesn’t take more “work” than that–that is what I think–thankfully you don’t!
And, when it comes to my life and I think how many times I have said “I’m sorry Lord, I have once again broken your heart with my choices. I want to live from your Holy Spirit within me not from my sinful self”, you have shown me undeserved and “un-earnable” grace.
Thank you God for loving us so much that you sacrificed Jesus to satisfy your requirement for justice while offering us amazing grace!
