Jan of 09 10 eager students for the Eastern Cape of South Africa made a courageous decision. They accepted the offer to attend Eastern Cape Bible School. Sure it was free tuition and room and board BUT, you get up at 4:30, on your knees for 2 hours by 5, sit in class all day long and listen to lectures. Wednesday you get a break! On Wednesday you get to fast and take your food to the dump in Pt. Alfred to feed those stricken by extreme poverty.
After six months of this 9 of these students accept another challenge, they moved to Bambisana (near Lusikisiki, SA) to minister to the children that Oceans of Mercy were feeding. At least in Bathurst they had a roof over their heads but now in Bambisana, they had a house with a big hole in the roof and a place that was overgrown with vegetation. Not the most inviting scene but they took their graduation in stride.
They’ve been there 3 months and have developed a ministry with the hospital staff, children with special needs, or orphans and a host of other opportunities that pop up on a daily basis.
Now the next adventure awaits! LXP (Leadership Experience) led by George and Michele Mwanza.
There is one problem, LXP is not in the same situation that the ECBS is in. There is a cost to these leaders being trained. That is why Shoal Creek has established a thrift store, to meet needs like this one.
